ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 -- NZ VS CAN

NEW ZEALAND  358/6  (50)   CANADA  261/9  (50)
PLAYER OF THE MATCH  BRENDON McCULLUM

Brendon McCullum's century and Ross Taylor's 44-ball 74 set up New Zealand's comfortable 97-run victory over Canada in their World Cup Group A match in Mumbai. Batting first after losing the toss, McCullum gave New Zealand a blazing start with partnerships of 53 and 96 with Martin Guptill (17) and Jesse Ryder respectively as the Kiwis reached 150 for two by the 30th over. McCullum scored 101 off 109 balls, while stand-in captain Taylor hit six fours and five sixes to set up the late blitz which saw the Kiwis make 358 for six in 50 overs.

In reply, Canada never looked like threatening the mammoth total, although Ashish Bagai (84) and Jimmy Hansra (70 not out) gave them a flicker of hope before finishing on 261 for nine as Jacob Oram picked up three for 47.A comfortable win in the end for New Zealand to take two crucial points and move to the top spot of Group A, thereby sealing a Q/F berth. The Black Caps will be satisfied with their performance but just a little set back for them as they failed to bowl out the Canadian side.
