PLAYER OF THE MATCH JP DUMINY
After winning the toss, Ireland's disciplined effort in the field - that saw South Africa on 117 for five at one stage - was first undone by JP Duminy, who blazed his way to 99 off 103 balls to lead his side to 272. The Irish misery continued with the bat, as Morne Morkel and Robin Peterson grabbed three wickets each, while Jacques Kallis gook two to condemn Ireland to defeat in the 34th over.
Chasing a stiff target of 273, Ireland never got going and looked completely hapless against the South African fast bowlers and later against the spin prowess of Peterson and company. Gary Wilson showed some resilience in the middle and his stand of 41 with Kevin O'Brien was the only sizable stand they managed. Morkel and Peterson were the chief tormentors of the Irish batting order, claiming three wickets each.A resounding win for South Africa to seal their place in the quarter-finals.
